Munro Madness January 2nd Slioch. Met up with Andy and Jamie at the car park at Incheril, Kinlochewe. This is the main start point for a walk into Slioch when you are not paddling across Loch Maree to the start of the route. A wonderful crisp start in the vally which is often quoted as the coldest place in Scotland. A few icy patches where water flowing across the track had frozen, but good progress to the foot of Slioch itself.

As the days progressed we made steady progress into the castle like corrie just below the summit walk to Slioch. The temperature dropped and cloud rolled in marking the end of the sun and a big chill. Not quite as cold as the prvious days Melvaig Loony Dook.

The views were excellent down to Loch Maree islands, hometo sea eagles and black throated divers. The great wilderness could be seen from the summit with views of An Teallach and the Fisherfields. Ptarmigan full inwinter plumage were also about.
