Rob Roy Way PDF Print E-mail

The Rob Roy Way travels across the Southern Highland of Scotland taking in some of the most beautiful countryside in Scotland. Starting from Drymen on the West Highland Way it goes north east to finish in Pitlochry. The Way is 79 or 92 miles - 127 or 148Km dependent on route choice.

Sense the history of Scotland as you travel through glens, along rivers & burns and past mountains & lochs.  Rob Roy MacGregor (1671 – 1734) walked the same paths and trails as he worked, fought and lived the life of Scotland's most notorious outlaw or local hero in some historian’s eyes; he roamed the Trossachs countryside rustling cattle from the English. He is buried only a short distance from the route in Balquhidder.

The Rob Roy Way begins near the southern shores of Loch Lomond and the trail leads you through the heart of Rob Roy Country, the beautiful Trossachs National Park and finishes in the Highlands of Perthshire. A walking holiday on the Rob Roy Way takes you through stunning loch side and dramatic hill country. The region also has many glistening Lochs including Venachar, Lubnaig, Earn and Tay which will take your breath away.

The Rob Roy Way is an easy grade walk passing through some of Scotland’s most picturesque scenery while avoiding some of the highest and most difficult terrain and mainly follows glens, forest tracks, past loch side trails and quiet roads and a few gentle slopes with outstanding mountain views.

Grade: Easy
